SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that they have launched a Tier I (AAA) Florida Jr. Panthers program after securing approval from USA Hockey and Statewide Amateur Hockey of Florida (SAHOF), the governing body for amateur hockey in Florida. This program will provide an elite developmental experience for youth players both on and off the ice with quality coaches and dedicated resources from the NHL Club.

With the support of USA Hockey, the Panthers will continue to grow the game at all levels and cultivate a first-class experience and program for youth travel players in South Florida.

The Jr. Panthers program will consider the formation of Tier 1 teams in all age brackets while prioritizing ability-appropriate placement and competitiveness at AAA, AA, and A levels. Tryouts for all levels begin this weekend starting with girls on Saturday, May 2 and for the boys on Monday, May 4 both at Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs and Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale.

“We are grateful to USA Hockey for recognizing our commitment and ability to support growth of the game at all levels,” said Florida Jr. Panthers Youth Travel Hockey Director Rob Granato. “This is a huge step for our organization and more importantly, a monumental step for our community and the game of hockey in South Florida.”

Tier 1 Coaches will be announced once tryouts are complete and the composition of each Jr. Panthers team is finalized.
